Wan – The Kid Who Keeps Trying to Be Cool (But Ends Up Cringe)
By Syamil
And finally, last but not least, “Wan Ahmad Daniel”. I think out of all my friendships, mine with this guy is the longest one that’s still going strong since Year 6. We first became friends just by being in the same class at sekolah agama. But once we found out we lived on the same street, it was game over. we were always hanging out after that.
Now here’s where it gets funny. Back then, I wasn’t really allowed to go out freely, especially not on motorbikes. My parents didn’t trust me being out and about like that. One day during Form 1, Wan asked me to go out riding with him. So I walked to his house and we went out… but then, out of nowhere, my mum followed us from behind in her car.
Bro, we both panicked so hard 😭. And what did Wan do? That traitor DROPPED ME OFF BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD and bailed. I ended up riding back home with my mum. Lucky for me, she didn’t even scold or nag me after that. Ever since that hilarious moment, we’ve basically never missed a day of hanging out.
The photo above was taken during Form 2 (yeah, the same time I had a broken arm like I mentioned in the Fahrin blog). By then, the four of us me, Wan, Luqman and Fahrin were already hanging out together all the time. Literally did everything together.
Then out of nowhere, Wan entered this weird phase where he suddenly went quiet and started hanging out with a whole different circle. Me and Luqman were like, “what’s going on?” He just randomly stopped chilling with us no fight, no drama, no reason. One day he just started going to school and chilling with another group.
Until today, we still don’t really know why he did that. But our best guess? He was just too lazy to walk, so he switched to a friend group that had motorcycles HAHAHAHAHA. This guy’s logic is on another level sometimes 😂
Until now, I’m still friends with this guy. He’s currently studying at UniKL Lumut, and I’m at UNISEL Bestari Jaya. One thing me and Wan definitely have in common, we’re both hardcore coffee lovers. Back in school, we used to just sit in front of our houses and chill with a cup of coffee. Now that we’re both in uni, things changed a bit, but that coffee habit stuck with us.
Every time we’re home for semester break, cafe hunting is a must. And if I’ve got free time, I’ll even make the trip all the way to Lumut just to chill at some cafe over there. Honestly, it’s a miracle we both turned out to be functioning human beings because our past behaviour? Questionable at best.
Love you bro, even with all the chaos.
