TWICE: The Powerhouse Girl Group That Took Over the Global Stage
By Syamil
TWICE is one of the most influential and successful girl groups of the third generation of K-pop. Known for their catchy songs, synchronized choreography, and lovable personalities, TWICE rose from a survival show to becoming one of the most recognized K-pop acts in the world.
Formed through JYP Entertainment’s reality show Sixteen, TWICE officially debuted in October 2015 with Like OOH-AHH. Their breakthrough came in 2016 with Cheer Up, a viral hit that earned them the Song of the Year award and established their unique “bright and energetic” image.
The group consists of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. Each member brings something different whether it’s Jihyo’s strong vocals, Momo’s precise dance moves, or Sana’s bubbly charm.
What sets TWICE apart is their ability to grow while staying true to their identity. They started with cheerful, youthful tracks like TT and Likey, but have smoothly transitioned into more mature sounds with songs like Fancy, I Can’t Stop Me, and Talk That Talk. Despite their evolution, they’ve kept their core energy and tight teamwork. TWICE has achieved massive milestones from topping Korean charts to entering Billboard 200, and selling out arenas across Asia, North America, and Europe. With their dedicated fanbase (ONCE), TWICE continues to thrive years into their career proof that consistency, hard work, and sincerity truly pay off.
