"Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner" - Trixie Mattel

By Han,

Me and my family were in Ipoh to attend a marriage event. While we were looking around for cool eating spots in town, we came across a Mohd Chan restaurant chain that immediately caught our eyes!

The outside exterior had a super gnarly retro cinema concept, to which I thought was simply a unique design choice but to my surprise, the building was originally an old movie theater.

One thing I really admire when exploring Ipoh is the fact that they take such great care of their historical buildings' and come up with creative ways to accommodate the empty space. Like, who would've thought that a movie theater space could make a cozy dining experience? The interior design was no joke either. They decorated the dining area with plenty of cinema inspired furniture and trinkets, which elevated our dining experience.

But enough about the building, let's talk about food!

I ordered myself a salted egg chicken chop, a red bean pau, and a red bean iced milk tea (I forgot to take pictures of the other stuff I ordered because I was too hungry). The food tasted great, of course. The chicken was cooked very well and the flavorful salted egg sauce complimented the chicken's crispy texture. My red bean desserts tasted good as well! You can't go wrong with a good red bean treat after a savory meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will come again if I visit Ipoh.
